“It’s not enough” – Families who accommodate Ukrainian refugees in their spare homes, rooms, sheds, or any other housing are saying €400 monthly payment isn’t enough

Many people on social media are saying that the proposed payment of €400 per month for taking Ukrainian people into their homes just isn’t enough.

They’re saying that it’s not even enough to cover their food or energy and it’s “utterly disgraceful” to try and tempt people to take Ukrainians in by using a “paltry payment” of €100 per week.

Families who accommodate Ukrainian refugees in their spare homes, rooms, sheds, or any other housing are in line for a monthly payment of €400.

According to the Government, up to 30,000 refugees might be in Ireland by next weekend, and accommodation is running out fast. It is understood that refugees might be routed into warehouses across the country.

The payment scheme has been confirmed with many believing it’s to entice more people to offer their homes to Ukrainians. However, many believe that providing accommodation, food, heating, utilities, etc. to entire families of refugees would be bound to cost many multiples of that.
