A Longford judge has said that what happened in Longford town on Wednesday night was an insult to locals and anyone following public health guidelines, reports RTE.

Criticizing those who hosted a wedding reception with a giant marquee and up to 100 people in attendance, Judge Keenan Johnson said “dogs on the street knew this was in breach of all Covid regulations”.

Longford County Council has asked the Circuit Court to have some of those involved appear in court to explain why they violated a court order, which it’s understood they’ll appear again in court on Monday afternoon.

The local authority applied to the court to try and have the wedding celebration postponed when they were made aware of what was planned.

A list of names was provided to the court, including the names of the bride and groom, the tent supplier and the caterer.

It’s understood that up to 100 people were planning on attending the lavish party.
