Julian Assange “gravely ill” as Swedish court rejects lawyers appeal for trial delay

Founder of Wikileaks Julian Assange is reportedly gravely ill just weeks after he was arrested following his expulsion from the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

Assange’s Swedish lawyer, Per Samuelson, has told the media that “Assange’s health situation on Friday was such that it was not possible to conduct a normal conversation with him.”

The ground-breaking investigative Journalist who founded the Wikileaks organisation, which is supported by anonymous contributors, was held up in the Ecuadorian embassy for almost seven-years seeking refuge after an international arrest warrant was issued for his detention. Wikileaks became known the world over in 2011 after it uploaded footage leaked to it of US war crimes in Iraq.

Assange was then wanted on dubious charges of rape in Sweden and on counts of international espionage in the US.

Since the 2016 elections however, efforts to get to Assange have been significantly stepped up due to the role of his organisation in expose the corruption and lies of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

Despite his ill health a Swedish court has rejected appeals for a delay to his trial.
