Willie O’Dea, a TD for Limerick Fianna Fáil, has deviated from his party’s leadership in favour of the new hate speech laws, labelling them as “woke” and advocating for their abandonment, reports Breaking News.
The Green Party and non-governmental groups were also characterised by the previous military minister as being “out of touch” with the general populace.
“Fianna Fáil needs to get back to basics and abandon the Hate Speech Bill, etc. Focus on housing, health, and law & order, and stop playing to the woke gallery. Start listening to the people, stop talking down to them and stop listening to the out of touch Greens & NGOs #Referendum2024,” Mr O’Dea posted on x, formerly Twitter, on Monday, reports Breaking News.
The party’s convention for choosing the following week’s directly elected mayor of Limerick will take place in Limerick, and Mr. O’Dea was scheduled to accompany Tánaiste Micheál Martin, the leader of his party, at a media event later on Monday night.
