Junior Minister Paul Kehoe calls for new laws that will stop protesters from holding demonstrations outside politicians homes

New laws should be introduced that will stop protesters from holding demonstrations outside people’s homes a Government Minister has claimed.

The call for change comes after the Junior Minister for Defence Paul Kehoe, had to leave his home over the weekend following a small demonstration outside his home in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford.

Speaking to Morning Mix on South East Radio, Minister Kehoe said that he is to raise the issue with the Minister for Justice Charlie Flanagan in an effort to halt what he calls an invasion of privacy.

Minister Kehoe who thanked GardaĆ for their assistance following events at his home on Sunday, told the programme that the problem is becoming to prevalent and that it is highly unacceptable that people are protestong outside people’s homes.

He also said that it was unfair that politicians families had to be subjected to incidents where there are groups consisting of ten to twelve people demonstrating outside their home.

Before adding that if people feel they need to protest, they can do it outside the constituency office of their elected representative but not outside their home especially when there are young children living there.
