The Taoiseach and Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny has heavely criticised local council authorities for the delaying in building social houses.
Mr Kenny made his remarks earlier today when he was fielding questions about the Government’s new social housing plan to tackle the homeless crisis during Leaders’ Questions time. Mr Kenny claimed the country’s county councils have been given an adequte amount of money to deal with the problem and it is now up to them to “get on with it”.
The Taoiseach further explained: “They have the money.” “It’s about time now that county councils got back into the business of providing houses for their people.
Mr Kenny rather scathing remarks come after he was repeatedly questioned by Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams who criticised the Government’s latest plan as “wholly insufficient”.
