Sports stars may often get heavily criticised for their large salaries, but when they donate a large sum to charity events that all seems to be forgotten and rightly so as they are helping someone that adores them, and with that said sentiment Republic Of Ireland and Everton FC right-back Seamus Coleman may have proven that he is willing to be as generous as anyone after he made a young Belfast-based Everton fan’s dream come true with a remarkably kind donation.

Coleman who is from Donegal has recieved great praise from both his club and the media after he willingly paid more than enough to ensure that little Daire Flanagan a 6-year-old Everton supporter who suffers from Apert syndrome, (a genetic condition that affects skull growth) got to attend a match day at his favourite club.

Little Daire who was only given 48 hours to live when he was born, thankfully defied the odds and many years later, he will get to spend the day at Goodison Park in the near future after Coleman donated a significant sum to cover his much needed Air Ambulance trip across the Irish Sea.

Irish star Coleman became aware of little Daire’s dream after he seen a fundraising page that was set up to help the little man fulfill his dream. Although the initial target figure was only ÂŁ1,000, its was soon reached after the Irishman pledged ÂŁ5,000 of his own money without hesitation.

It is understood the excess funding will go to Mencap, a UK charity to help those with a learning disability. The true gentleman behind the kind-hearted donation Coleman, even wrote a short message explaining his donation, saying: “I read Daire’s story online and would love to help get him his trip to Goodison next season.

“I hope that [my donation] can help get Daire and his family a safe trip to Liverpool. “Looking forward to seeing you at a game next season.”
