Funeral Mass will take place in Dundrum, Co Down this morning for Mary Kielty. who passed away peacefully at her home in Dundrum, Co Down, on March 8, 2025, just hours after her son, Patrick, hosted RTE One’s Late Late Show.
Mary, believed to be in her 80s, died surrounded by the comfort of her home at 39 Main Street, Dundrum. Her funeral is scheduled for Monday, and the Kielty family has shared that she will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her entire family, neighbours, and friends.
Patrick’s family has faced profound sorrow before. His father, Jack—Mary’s husband—was murdered by loyalist paramilitaries when Patrick was only 16, a tragedy that has long shadowed their lives.
Mary Kielty’s death notice reads: “KIELTY (nee O’Hare) Mary R.I.P. (39 Main Street, Dundrum BT33 0LU) Died 8th March, 2025 peacefully at home, dearly loved wife of the late Jack, loving mother of John, Patrick and Cahal. Mother-in-law of Moya, Catherine and Nichola, devoted grandmother of Catherine, Sarah, Ciara, Milo, James, Shauna and Fionn, sister of John (O’Hare) and the late Susan, Bridget and Margaret. Will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her entire family circle, neighbours and friends. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on her gentle soul.
