Law of modesty: Irish citizens who sunbath naked in their own back gardens could end up facing a hefty fine or even imprisonment

The country is currently experiencing a glorious heatwave over the past week which has in turn prompted many Irish citizens to take to the outdoors to try and get a glorious tan that will last all summer long, however if you happen to be devoted to getting the perfect tan all over you may want to think again.

Although some of us are determined to get the perfect body tan by stripping down to our birthday suit in our own back garden it is best not to do so as it is bizarrely illegal to appear anywhere in the public domain in the nip.

The rather strange law which was implemented back in the early 90s clearly states that Irish citizens are not allowed to appear outdoors regardless if it is on their own property in the all together as it is considered to be an act of public indecency.

According to the rarely known law anyone who is caught undertaking such an activity could face a fine of up to €634.87 or a six month prison sentence.
