Left Wing TD Ruth Coppinger is set to make history in Irish politics by becoming the first woman ever to be nominated for Taoiseach.
She has said that she represents an “alternative to the failed policies of the 1%”.
Her left wing party, the AAA, will nominate her for Taoiseach when the Dáil sits again tomorrow, thus becoming first ever female nominated for the position.
Speaking about her party, she said “We want to act as a clear, left, socialist voice for workers and the oppressed in society who are suffering from the effects of the crises in housing and health, and to outline the alternative to the failed policies of the 1%.”
