In one of the most philosophical interviews ever on the television, Simon Weston spoke openly on tonight’s Late Late Show about the injuries he sustained in the Falklands war.

The Welshman sustained a horrific 46% burn to his body. After an unbelievable 96 surgeries and having spent 5 years in hospital, Simon managed to get his life back together and is completely philosophical and genuinely inspiring to listen to tell his story.

Having overcome post traumatic stress disorder, Simon now gives inspirational speeches to schools and companies around the UK. The British public have embraced the ex soldier, so much so that he even won a nominated award to have his painting hang in the national British museum in London.

He said a very poignant line:
“Not in an arrogant way, but in a confident way – as long as you love you, it doesn’t matter what bows and arrows people throw at you.”

What an absolute legend.
