There was some good news for homeowners as legislation that will see banks asking permission before they sell their mortgages to vulture funds, has been passed in the Dáil.
The new No Consent, No Sale Bill, was overwhelmingly passed in the Dáil on Thursday, by 80 to 45 votes.
Under the new laws financial institutions will now be unable to sell a mortgage holders loan agreement without their consent.
The new laws which was submitted by Sinn Féin’s Pearse Doherty, will now pass on to the next stage before it becomes law.
It is believed that the Bill was passed after Fianna Fáil pledged their support to the bill.
However Government TD’s voted against the bill.
