The Tanaiste Leo Varadkar is in a very serious situation this morning.
There have been a number of genuine and serious threats to his life in the last number of days, reports the Sunday Independent.
24 hour armed Gardai protection now at the ready for Leo Varadkar after several death threats have been issued against him and are believed to be credible.
It’s alleged that round-the-clock security has been put in place for the former Taoiseach after weeks of serious threats aimed at him directly.
Varadkar’s home address was painted on a wall at the junction of the Newtownards Road and Belvoir Street.
It’s understood that his name and address were painted beside a loyalist mural depicting two gunmen and the words: “The prevention of the erosion of our identity is now our priority. East Belfast Battalion”, reports the Sunday Independent.
Varadkar is now likely to take a lesser public role given the nature of the threats.
