Lidl to close all 184 stores in Ireland three hours early as the Easter weekend approaches

With Easter fast approaching, households throughout Ireland are busy getting ready—drawing up shopping lists, filling their fridges and freezers, and navigating the chocolate-fuelled frenzy. As one of the year’s peak shopping times, supermarkets across the country are preparing for the seasonal surge, reports The Mirror.

This year, Lidl Ireland has introduced a significant update that might take customers by surprise. Every one of its 184 stores nationwide will be closing three hours earlier than usual during the Easter bank holiday weekend.

The well-known discount retailer will have slightly shorter trading hours on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, prompting shoppers to check store-specific opening times in advance and plan accordingly, reports The Mirror.

Details from the Lidl Ireland website highlight some important schedule adjustments for Easter weekend:

– Good Friday, April 18: Standard hours apply, with stores open from 8am to 10pm.
– Holy Saturday, April 19: Regular trading continues, from 8am to 10pm.
– Easter Sunday, April 20: Stores will open at their usual 9am time, but close earlier than normal at 6pm.
– Easter Monday, April 21: Stores will open at 9am, one hour later, and close at 9pm, one hour earlier than usual.

With these new hours coming into effect next weekend, customers are encouraged to do their shopping early to avoid the usual last-minute Easter rush.

Despite the reduced hours, large crowds have still been gathering outside Lidl stores nationwide in pursuit of one popular product. The Monsieur Cuisine Smart by Silvercrest, a cost-effective competitor to high-end kitchen machines, has made its debut in Ireland—and it’s proving wildly popular, reports The Mirror.

Selling at a rate of one unit every 24 seconds during its initial three-hour release, the €499.99 gadget is now Lidl’s best-selling middle-aisle product of the year to date. Those hoping to grab one of these all-in-one appliances—which can blend, steam, knead, cook, and more—should act quickly, as many locations have already sold out.

Lidl brand ambassador and TV chef Gina Daly of The Daly Dish praised the appliance during live demos in Dublin and Cork, saying: “The Monsieur Cuisine Smart takes the hassle out of home cooking by combining multiple functions in one simple-to-use appliance. Since switching from my usual trusted appliances like my slow cooker, it has transformed mealtimes at home – and saved hugely on kitchen space,” reports The Mirror.

“What I love about it is how user-friendly it is – I can browse recipes, meal plan, create shopping lists and know I’m making exactly the right amount of food needed, reducing food waste. The helpful voice control functionality and video instructions take all the stress out of cooking – it’s really become my sous-chef in the kitchen! Whether you’re a confident home cook or just starting out, this device makes it easier than ever to prepare fresh, delicious meals for you and your family,” reports The Mirror.

The Monsieur Cuisine Smart offers more than 600 integrated recipes, a self-cleaning function, and an 8-inch voice-controlled display—bringing a sleek cooking experience at about a third of the cost of top-tier competitors.

It’s all part of Lidl’s ongoing commitment to offering top-quality items at unbeatable prices for Irish consumers—and with Easter meal planning underway, the launch couldn’t be more perfectly timed, reports The Mirror.
