Lights out! Power cut at world’s largest Primark store in Birmingham during opening day

A power cut at the world’s largest Primark store in Birmingham dampened the enthusiasm somewhat on its opening day.

Lights went out for about five minutes, and a DJ booth fell silent during the glitch, which also affected lifts and escalators.

Still, the power cut did not deter shoppers who had been waiting for the new store to open since 7am to get their hands on a bargain.

The flagship store features five floors, with a total of 160,000 sq ft of retail space. The complex also houses two hairdressers, two cafes, and a Disney-themed restaurant.
