Limerick man to be sentenced in June for the sexual assault of an one-year-old baby girl

The sentencing of convicted paedophile Michael O’Brien has been adjourned until June 6th at the earliest after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a one-year-old baby girl who was left in his care whilst her parents went out drinking.

Mr O’Brien (45) who is currently serving a 12-year sentence for the sexual abuse of two children who were under the age of six is a well known sex offender who committed a number sexual assaults which date as far back as 1993, he served a four year prison sentence for the aggravated sexual assault of a 60-year-old woman during the burglary of her home in 1993.

Mr O’Brien originally from Co Limerick had pleaded not guilty to the charges at a sitting at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, he strongly denies sexually assaulting the unnamed baby girl at her home in the West between the dates of April 2005 and October 2006.

The prciding judge Berkeley has ordered a prison report and a psychological assessment for Mr O’Brien before he can sentence O’Brien to a further term in prison.
