Despite a strong year in 2013 in terms of passenger numbers, the pre-tax profits for the French operator behind the Luas system, Transdev Light Rail Ltd., fell by 6% to €1.31m. The company signed a five-year contract this September to continue operating the Luas network.
2013 was the sixth consecutive year of increase in passenger numbers, to a total of 30 million.
This rise did contribute to a 6% increase in revenue, up to a total of €56.7m for the 12 months ending in December last.
Accounts filed by the company show that total pre-tax earnings dropped slightly from €1.57m in 2012 to €1.54 in 2013.
