The ongoing Luas row may soon escalate into all-out strike, as the company managing the trams, Transdev, has sent a letter to staff warning of pay cuts if they continue engaging in industrial action.

In the letter, the company said that it will remove employees from payroll from Monday week if they refuse to carry out their duties.

Siptu is now considering its next move, and a ballot for all-out strike may be on the cards.

As it stands, two further strike days scheduled for April 23 and 24 are set to go ahead.

The letter expressly states that the withdrawal of pay would be effective immediately and continue for as long as the staff continues engaging in strike action.

Further stoppages are planned for Thursday April 28, Wednesday May 4, Friday May 13, and Friday May 20.
