A spokesperson for the Right2Water campaign has stated that the demonstrations so far are having the desired  effect of pressuring the Government into changing their plans on water charges.

The next mass protest is scheduled for Saturday, March 21. Thousands of people are expected to attend the event.

Brendan Ogle, coordinator for Right2Water, has said that ‘the campaign has made significant progress so far.’

In a statement, he announced “the campaign has been the biggest mass mobilisation on an ongoing basis,” he added.

“The Government have been forced on to the back foot, there have been major, major concessions in terms of the bills, in terms of the so-called deadlines – I don’t know what deadline we’re on now.”
