A major incident has been declared after a bus hit a wall in the south of the country.
The incident, involving a Bus Eireann vehicle, happened on the Strand Road in Monkstown, Co. Cork, a short time ago.
It is understood that the bus driver lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road, striking several cars and pedestrians before crashing into a wall. One of the victims, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead shortly after the accident.
Gardai believe that the bus driver, who died in the incident, might have become ill shortly before the crash.
