Major investigation underway after building gets burned to the ground that authorities say was not actually earmarked for migrants

Gardaí are looking into reports that a structure in Leixlip, County Kildare, was set on fire early this morning in connection with housing for asylum seekers, reports RTE.

The seven-bedroom dormer home Honeywood suffered extensive damage when it caught fire just before 1:30 in the morning.

Following last Sunday’s fire at an abandoned nursing home in Crooksling, County Dublin, this is the second attack of this kind this week, reports RTE.

After the fire department and Gardaí were summoned to the Leixlip house, the incident was extinguished.

At that moment, no one was hurt and no one was inside the building. The site is protected so that it may be examined forensically, reports RTE.
