Major recall issued at a number of Irish supermarkets for bottled water products due to high arsenic levels




The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has confirmed that a number of still water bottles have been recalled from the country’s leading supermarkets.

In an announcement posted on the FSAI website, it was confirmed that bottles of water have been recalled from Dunnes Stores, Aldi, Lidl, Applegreen, Mace and a number of other stores.

It is believed that the recall was issued after higher than normal levels of arsenic was detected in bottles.

The statement reads as follows: “Arsenic was detected above the legal limit in several branded still and sparkling bottled waters.”

“The implicated batches are being recalled from consumers.”

“Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batches.”

Applegreen (Still water)

Broderick (Still water)

Dunnes Stores (Still and Sparkling and Flavoured)

Itica (Still water )

Lidl (Still water )

Londis (Still water)

Mace (Still water)

Macari (Still water)

Plane (Still water)

San Marino (Still water )

Spar (Still water)

The FSAI also warn consumers not to drink the affected batches of water and seek medical assistance if they become unwell.
