Rampaging seagulls target toddler two weeks after killing family dog

A flock of rampaging seagulls returned to the same property and attacked a toddler playing in the back garden, two weeks after killing the family dog.

The shocking incident happened in Cornwall in 2015 but only came to light recently.

The seagulls first attacked and killed the terrier dog, named Roo. Authorities believe that the seagulls may have been guarding a nest and perceived the dog as a threat.

But bizarrely, the birds returned two weeks later and targeted the child, 2-year-old Emily, who escaped with just bruises and cuts after her mother intervened and fought off the seagulls.

The incident comes to light soon after another flock of seagulls is suspected to have carried off and devoured a small Chihuahua dog in Devon.

All species of seagull are currently under protection across the UK, so it is illegal to kill them or interfere with their nests.
