Man (40) charged over abduction of woman in Wicklow




A lady who was kidnapped in Wicklow early on Tuesday morning and later discovered by gardaí in Mayo is accused of being wrongfully imprisoned by a man, reports RTE.

The forty-year-old man appeared in Bray court and will do so again on March 21st via video link.

In addition, he faces charges for possessing blades, making threats to murder, and assault.

At around 2.30 am on Tuesday, gardaí received a complaint of a lady being hustled into a van at Arklow, County Wicklow, prompting the start of an inquiry into the incident, reports RTE.

That afternoon in Mayo, gardaí stopped a Renault vehicle, leading to the man’s detention. The woman was discovered unharmed.

A worldwide notice had been out by Gardaí for the vehicle, asking for information regarding its location and cautioning people not to approach, reports RTE.
