Gardai in Co Kerry have sadly confirmed that a man aged in his 30s has sadly passed away in hospital following an assault in Killorglin over the weekend.
According to The Irish Mirror newspaper, the man who was in critical condition in Cork University Hospital sadly passed away today.
It is understood that the man sustained serious head injuries during an altercation outside a fast food outlet at approximately 2.20am on Sunday morning.
Although the man was taken to University Hospital Kerry he was later transferred Cork University Hospital where he remained in critical condition.
However in the past few hours Gardaí confirmed that the man had passed away due to the extent of his injuries.
