Man arrested in connection with attempted carjacking in Cork

Gardai in Cork have arrested a man in connection with an attempted carjacking in the city on Monday evening.

It is understood that the man was arrested after two people were threatened with a knife in the Grand Parade area of the city.

It is alleged that the man entered the vehicle and threatened both the driver and a fellow passenger to take him to another location.

However it is believed that the suspect fled the scene after the car remained in the area.

Gardai say the man was later arrested during a follow up investigation and was taken to Bridewell Garda Station.
