Gardai in North Dublin have launched an investigation after a horse was found with injuries that are consistent to that of being set on fire.
It is understood that the investigation comes after the horse was found with serious injuries in Darndale, Coolock, on Tuesday morning.
Gardai say the injured horse has been taken into the care of the DSPCA were not remains in serious condition.
The DSPCA say the horse sustained serious injuries to its face, neck and around the eyes.
Officers investigating the incident say no arrests have yet been made.
He was moved to the DSPCA Rescue Centre and has been examined by the veterinary team. He is suffering from burns on his face and neck with a burnt mane and eye lashes.
