Gardaí have sadly confirmed that a man aged in his 70s has died following a road traffic incident in Co Louth earlier today.
It is understood the man died after the car he was travelling in collided with a van on the R178 Carrickmacross Road, at approximately 3pm this afternoon.
Gardaí say a 15-year-old boy who was a passenger in the car was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
Meanwhile the driver of the van a man aged in his 40s was taken to Tallaght Hospital where he remains in serious condition.
It is understood that investigations are currently ongoing.
