A man will go before a Dutch court today in connection with the death of his wife who was an Irish citizen.
The 64 year-old’s body was discovered at her home in the city of Den Bosch, in the south of the country, on Monday.
Police were called to the scene where they found her husband and he was subsequently arrested.
They are treating her death as suspicious and the man was detained for questioning.
It is not yet known if her husband is an Irish citizen also.
“The woman’s husband, who was present in the home, was arrested and taken to the police station for further investigation. The arrested man is being arraigned on Thursday, November 12th at the Right Commissioner,” police said in a statement.
It is not yet clear how the woman died.
The Department of Foreign Affairs last night confirmed it is providing consular assistance to the woman’s family.
