Man found guilty of assaulting airport security during ‘legroom’ seat row

A man in Dublin has been convicted of assault after a court heard that he attempted to eject a Dublin Airport security official from a Ryanair plane during a disagreement over seating.

Sergejs Laurenouies, 38, from Ballytrasna, Ballycullane, Co Wexford, has been given a suspended six-month sentence by Judge John Hughes at Dublin District Court, reports RTE.

In addition to the sentence, Laurenouies has been fined €1,000 and ordered to pay €1,000 in compensation to Barry Nevin, the Dublin Airport Police officer involved.

Moreover, Judge Hughes has stipulated that Laurenouies must be sober and present himself to airport officials four hours prior to departure if he wishes to board any flight departing from Ireland, reports RTE.
