A Dublin man who sexually assaulted a woman who was interviewing him for a job at a Dublin school has been told he “may very well” not receive a criminal record.
The man Noel Ward (28) committed the beastly act when he was being given a guided tour of the school. Dublin District Court heard a detailed account of how Mr Ward grabbed her bottom three times and told her she had a “fine a**e”.
Meanwhile Judge Anthony Halpin said th case was one of the “most peculiar cases” he has ever dealt with, before ordering a Restorative Justice Programme report.
Mr Ward pleaded guilty the offence which occurred at a school on June 10 last year. According to the victims impact statement the first time, Mr Ward grabbed her she thought it was an accident; then second time, she looked at him; and the third time, he grabbed her and said “that is a fine a**e you have there”.
Mr Ward was subsequently arrested after the victim reported the case to the GardaĆ. After hearing a detatiled account of events Judge Halpin said that having considered the case, he was going to refer Ward to the Restorative Justice Programme.
Judge Halpin said: “If he engages fully with the programme, he might very well leave the court without a recorded conviction to his name.” “However, it will require his full co-operation.”
He adjourned the case to a date in October.
