A young man who fell ill at a homeless hostel in Tullamore in recent days has passed away in hospital.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, was taken to hospital after ingesting a substance at the facility on Monday.
Gardai confirmed that he passed away today.
Preliminary investigations pointed to a batch of tainted fake Xanax tablets purchased on the internet. Two women died at the same facility after taking the tablets.
