A court has heard that RTÉ’s Crimecall service helped identify a man accused of assaulting a lady on a Dublin bus, reports The Mirror.
A public call for assistance was made last week regarding the alleged event that occurred on May 29, 2024, in Rathfarnham, Dublin 14.
At Dublin District Court yesterday/today (Wednesday), Martin Ball, 36, of Gleann na hEorna, Springfield, Tallaght, appeared before Judge Paula Murphy, reports The Mirror.
He was given bail with the stipulation that he could not ride a particular bus route.
Mr. Ball is accused of assaulting and injuring a woman on May 29 of last year at Grange Road, Rathfarnham, D14, reports The Mirror.
Garda Sergeant Bryan Duff, the court presenter, provided a certificate detailing the arrest, charge, and caution evidence.
The sergeant explained that owing to the nature of the case, directives from the Director of Public Prosecutions needed to be obtained, reports The Mirror.
Mr. Ball, who was wearing a cream sweater, blue jeans, black runners, and a black coat, did not speak in court and has not yet entered a plea.
Bail with restrictions, the majority of which had been brought to the attention of defence attorney Fergal McMorrow, was accepted without objection, reports The Mirror.
During the brief hearing, no proof about the claimed attack was presented.
Judge Murphy mandated that Mr. Ball live at his existing residence, sign on three days a week at his local Garda station, and avoid any direct or indirect contact with the alleged injured individual or any witnesses, reports The Mirror.
