Management issues an apology after patients are treated in ambulances at an Irish hospital

Letterkenny University Hospital have issued an apology after patients were being treated in ambulances on Sunday evening.

According to RTE News, the General manager of Letterkenny University Hospital Sean Murphy said that the situation at the hospital got out of control following a surge of patients presenting at the hospital.

Murphy said that the situation peaked over the weekend following an extremely difficult week for the hospital.

He went on to say that there was a delay in terms of taking patients into the hospital as all A&E beds were full on Sunday and therefore a decision was made to triage patients in ambulances outside the hospital.

Murphy added that the situation was resolved when 11 further beds were made available after off duty staff came into the hospital following a call from management.

The General Manager also thanked staff for responding to the call and offered their assistance.
