He urged Irish citizens to heed official instructions, saying that officials are in communication with the Irish embassy in Tel Aviv and its counterparts in Ramallah.
The Israeli military conducted “targeted ground raids” in communities near the Israeli border earlier on Tuesday as part of what it called a “limited, localised” operation against Hezbollah objectives in southern Lebanon, reports Breaking News.
Mr. Martin expressed his “great concern” over Israeli forces initiating “ground raids” in south Lebanon communities, claiming that these actions violate international humanitarian law.
A ground incursion would have a “extraordinary” impact on people, he claimed, and it would be “unacceptable” to perhaps force over a million people to from their homes.
“This continuing escalation needs to stop. The consequences of widening regional conflict would be disastrous for all the peoples of the region. I urge all leaders to think of the immediate and long-term consequences of their actions. We need to see immediate ceasefires in Gaza and in Lebanon, the release of hostages and a return to diplomatic and political pathways to bring this cycle of violence to an end,” Mr Martin said, reports Breaking News.
