Sinn Féin’s Mary Lou McDonald has slammed the Government’s recent decision to issue pay increase’s of €5,000 to all Government Ministers.
Ms McDonald who was speaking in the Dáil recently said that this years Budget was a mockery given it only delivered derisory increases to low-paid workers, along with an extra €5 weekly to welfare recipients whilst politicians wreaked the benefits.
Ms McDonald said: “Once again there is one rule for ordinary families and citizens. Look after ‘Number 1’ – the others can wait.”
The Sinn Fein deputy also claimed that her party will actively seek to block the implementation of the pay increases, and will look for Fianna Fáil’s support on the issue.
