McEntee says she aims to have stalking and non-fatal strangulation to become standalone offences

Stalking and non-fatal strangulation will be separate offenses under the new plans, the Minister for Justice Helen McEntee has said.

Courts can also issue injunctions without prosecution.

Harassment and non-fatal strangulation are already criminal offences, but these changes aim to make the law clearer and stricter in this area.

The measure also aims to raise awareness and report stalking crimes.
