The Minister for Education Norma Foley has said that funding would be made available to run language modules aimed at more than 40,000 pupils which could see Irish primary schools teach students through Ukrainian.
The government have disregarded all issues facing Irish citizens, such as lack of housing, a stained health care system, insufficient social welfare supports, inflation and a rising cost of living to welcome tens of thousands of Ukrainian refugees.
Now, Irish pupils in schools, whose classes are to swell with Ukrainian refugees may see lessons offered in the Eastern European language.
Ukrainian was added to the languages taught under the “Say Yes to Languages” scheme, which was first piloted last year the Irish Times reported.
Education Minister Foley said:
“Being able to speak a foreign language, and learning about other cultures, is an enormous advantage to our children and young people,” she said. “This program gives them a unique opportunity to be exposed to foreign-language learning at a young age.”
