Measles outbreak: Four new cases of the infectious disease detected in Dublin

The health service has issued a warning after four new measles cases were detected in Dublin in recent days.

Measles is a highly infectious disease. The virus lives in the nose and throat of the infected individual, who transmits the disease primarily via airborne droplets.

The rise in measles cases has been attributed to a decline in the uptake of the MMR vaccine, due to unfounded links to the onset of autism.
