Cyberflashing will become a criminal offence, with perpetrators facing up to two years in prison in the UK.
It’s understood that it’s defined as sending an unsolicited sexual image to a victim through dating apps, social media, or using data-sharing services such as Airdrop or Bluetooth.
The new policy means cyber-flashing carries the same maximum penalty as indecent exposure for two years.
76% of girls aged 12 to 18 have received unsolicited nude images of boys or men, according to a study by sociology professor Jessica Ringrose in 2020.
