Met Eireann is today forecasting unsettled conditions for most of this week and into the Bank Holiday weekend, with better weather likely developing next week.

According to the national forecaster, Ireland will experience damp and cool weather this week, with heavy downpours at times, and daytime temperatures hitting 10-11C at best during the early part of the week, sinking to subzero on Monday night. The thermometer will rise to 17C by Friday.

Met Eireann says that high pressure is likely to start building towards Sunday, possibly leading to more settled weather into next week.
