Met Eireann has issued a nationwide advisory note ahead of low temperatures forecast for the weekend.
According to the national forecaster, a cold front is approaching, bringing temperatures as low as -4C over Saturday and Sunday.
The outlook is for bitterly cold weather to remain through to the early part of next week, with the possibility of wintry showers of sleet and snow at times.
