The national forecaster has issued an urgent weather warning for six counties ahead of the arrival of very unsettled weather.
The wind warning, which affects counties Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry, and Limerick, will kick in at 3pm on Wednesday and will remain in place until 1am on Thursday.
Met Eierann says that the combination of strong winds and high tides might cause coastal flooding across many areas.
