Just one month ago, so-called “experts” were saying that we might not have a covid vaccine for up to 5 years, 10 years, 20 years, possibly never.
Now there appears to be two very effective vaccines that are trialled and tested fighting it out to be the first to the worldwide market.
A Moderna-developed vaccine is reportedly more effective and easier to store than Pfizer’s by around 5% and is said to be easier to store too.
According to Moderna, their vaccine has been proved to be ‘94.5%’ effective in trials, while Pfizer claims that theirs is ‘90%.’
Also, Pfizer’s vaccine must be kept at a temperature of -70C, which poses significant logistical challenges as most GPs and clinics would not have suitable facilities to accommodate such deep-cold storage. In contrast, Moderna’s vaccine has been shown to be stable at -20C, a temperature easily achieved by modern refrigerators.
The big question of course is – would you get it?
