Met Eireann is warning of the possibility of temperatures as low as -8C in some places tonight, with heavy snow possible next week.
According to the national forecaster daytime temperatures will remain in single digits throughout the day, plunging to well below zero overnight.
The bad news is that there is a chance of heavy snowfall across Ireland next week as colder air approaches.
