Micheál Martin says it’s just not feasible to ban children from social media

Tánaiste Micheál Martin has acknowledged that it is not practical to prohibit children from using social media but believes that the government could be more forceful in cautioning about its dangers, reports Breaking News.

When asked about the possibility of implementing social media restrictions for young people, Martin responded by referring to reports that the UK government was contemplating a similar action.

However, a UK science minister dismisses these reports as mere speculation, reports Breaking News.

During an end-of-year interview, Martin expressed his desire to witness more instances of schools creating social media contracts that outline proper usage.

Nonetheless, he acknowledged that providing instructions on what to do does not always have the desired effect, reports Breaking News.

“There is merit in restricting the use of mobile phones within the school day and within schools themselves,” the Cork South-Central TD said, reports Breaking News.
