Met Eireann warns of wretched weather conditions over the next few days, with heavy rain during the day and subzero temperatures at night

Met Eireann is today warning of wretched weather conditions over the next few days, with heavy rain during the day and subzero temperatures at night.

Things will take a turn for the worse on Tuesday, with strong winds and heavy rain arriving with a bang, and the bad news is that these miserable conditions will last into the weekend.

In the run-up to it, Saturday will be a relatively good day, with long sunny spells and temperatures topping 13-14C in the afternoon, but a frosty night ahead.

Sunday will be slightly warmer as the thermometer hits 17C in some places, but cloud cover will increase from the west towards the afternoon, causing some outbreaks of light rain.

Monday is forecast to remain mild and mostly settled before the weather takes a turn by late Tuesday.
