Met Eireann is warning that the upcoming cold snap could last until early next week or even longer, with temperatures sinking to -7C at times.
According to the national forecaster, daytime temperatures will remain in low single digits over the next few days, sinking to below freezing at night.
Met Eireann has issued two weather warnings, one for winter weather and a second one for low temperatures and ice.
