Tech tycoon Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah perished on Monday when a luxury boat capsized off the coast of Sicily, leaving five other people dead. Hannah’s family has expressed their sorrow and sadness at her loss, reports RTE.

Around five in the morning local time on Monday, the yacht sunk, taking with it Mr. Lynch and Hannah, as well as Jonathan Bloomer, the head of Morgan Stanley International bank, his wife Judy Bloomer, attorney Chris Morvillo, and his wife Neda Morvillo.

The remains of Mr. Lynch and the Bloomers and Morvillos were found on beach at Porticello, some 18 kilometres away from Palermo, the capital of Sicily, yesterday. The bodies of the Bloomers and Morvillos were found on Wednesday.

Hannah Lynch’s corpse was found earlier today on the boat, reports RTE.

Recaldo Thomas, a chef aboard the superyacht Bayesian and a native of Canada and Antigua, was found dead at the scene of the sinking on Monday.

Fifteen of the twenty-two passengers and staff members aboard, including Angela Bacares, the wife of Mr. Lynch, were saved after managing to escape onto a lifeboat.

This afternoon, a spokesperson for the Lynch family said: “The Lynch family is devastated, in shock and is being comforted and supported by family and friends. Their thoughts are with everyone affected by the tragedy. They would like to sincerely thank the Italian coastguard, emergency services and all those who helped in the rescue. Their one request now is that their privacy be respected at this time of unspeakable grief,” reports RTE.
