The shambolic triumvirate of Irish Water/water charges/water meters rumbles on.

Less than twenty four hours after a Sinn Fein TD claimed that the water meter installation program would shortly be terminated, following the layoff of 35 workers, Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly has stated that such program is actually ‘ahead of schedule’.

Sinn Fein’s statement derived from information received from GMC Sierra, advising its subcontractors that they would no longer be ‘engaged’ by the company after this Friday.

Minister Kelly said that Sinn Fein’s claims are ‘ridiculous and false.’

The entire water charges issue has steadily snowballed from an unholy mess into a full blown debacle in a matter of months, and the people of Ireland have rightly stood up against the imposition of such unfair tax on a basic and natural human need.

Further mass demonstrations are planned for March 21 and beyond.
